Email & SMS for Restricted Markets.
End-to-end management of the direct-messaging stack — email, SMS, WhatsApp Business, push — across 18 restricted-market verticals. White-hat ESPs and carrier-tolerant SMS routing collapse the moment a grey-market sender lands on them, and the damage compounds for months before it shows up in revenue: most senders we inherit are running at 40–60% inbox rate without knowing it. We rebuild sender architecture so failure modes are isolated, calibrate content to actual ESP and carrier policy (not 2014 spam-word lists), and monitor reputation daily so recovery starts before the revenue drop.

Deliverability and sender-reputation audit
Inbox placement testing across Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, ProtonMail, and the major mobile carriers. Spam trap exposure check, IP reputation, domain reputation, DKIM/SPF/DMARC posture, list hygiene. Most restricted-market senders are running at 40–60% inbox rates without knowing it; the audit shows the actual damage and the recovery path.
- 02
Sending architecture rebuild
Multi-domain sender topology: primary brand domain for transactional, separate marketing-only domains for promotional, dedicated warmed IPs above 100k sends/month. Subdomains and EHLO hostnames isolated so a deliverability hit on promotional traffic does not poison transactional receipts.
- 03
Banned-word and content compliance pass
Per-category content filter calibrated to ESP and carrier blocklists. CBD content rewritten for Gmail tolerance, peptide content rewritten for SES survival, supplement claims aligned to FTC and FDA structure-function language. Subject-line filtering against the actual triggers, not the 2014 spam-word lists most ESPs still publish.
- 04
Lifecycle and segmentation
Welcome flow (5–8 messages, first 14 days), abandoned cart and abandoned browse, post-purchase, replenishment, win-back, lapsed-customer reactivation. Segmented by vertical-relevant behaviour: cycle stage for steroid and peptide buyers, strain preference for cannabis, frequency tier for adult subscription. Lifecycle revenue typically 25–40% of total email/SMS revenue once mature.
- 05
SMS deployment
US, Canada, EU, UK, and AU SMS routing through carrier-tolerant aggregators. 10DLC registration where applicable, Toll-Free Verified for high-volume US, short codes for very-high-volume programs. Carrier-content-policy aware: cannabis SMS routes differently from supplement SMS routes differently from adult SMS. Opt-in flow built to survive carrier audits.
- 06
WhatsApp Business deployment
WhatsApp Business API with template message approval engineering, broadcast-list architecture for jurisdictions where lists are tolerated, and click-to-WhatsApp ad integration where the category permits. WhatsApp is dominant for restricted-market commerce in LATAM, MENA, India, and parts of EU; underused by US-centric operators who default to email.
- 07
Push notification stack
Web push for desktop and mobile-web traffic, native push for app installs, browser push as recovery rail when email and SMS deliverability degrades. Push survives most platform deliverability problems because it routes outside the carrier and ESP infrastructure entirely; it is the underused rail in most restricted-market stacks.
- 08
Reporting and reputation monitoring
Daily inbox-placement monitoring (Glock Apps or in-house), per-segment open and click attribution, per-rail revenue attribution, complaint rate tracking against ESP termination thresholds. Monthly review of sender reputation, list hygiene, and the next-quarter deliverability roadmap.
| Tactic | We do | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Multi-domain sender architecture | Yes | Transactional and marketing isolated. Single-domain senders are one Gmail incident from full-stack outage. |
| Dedicated IP with warmup | Yes | Above 100k sends/month. Below that, shared IPs with reputable ESPs perform better. |
| List segmentation by behaviour | Yes | Vertical-relevant signals: cycle stage, strain pref, subscription tier, geography. |
| Per-category content rewrites | Yes | Tolerance bands differ widely. CBD on Gmail differs from peptides on SES differs from cannabis on Klaviyo. |
| WhatsApp Business broadcast where tolerated | Yes | LATAM, MENA, India, parts of EU. Click-to-WhatsApp ads route into the same stack. |
| Web and native push as recovery rail | Yes | Survives most ESP and carrier deliverability incidents. |
| Sunset policy for cold subscribers | Yes | Aggressive. Cold lists destroy reputation faster than promotional content does. |
| Rented or purchased lists | No | Spam trap rate guarantees blacklist exposure inside 90 days. Burns the domain and the IP both. |
| Hidden unsubscribe / dark patterns | No | Drives complaint rate above ESP termination thresholds. Loses the account, not just the campaign. |
| Cloaked links / URL obfuscation | No | Triggers Gmail and Outlook content scoring. Damages the broader domain reputation, not just the message. |

01Why are my email open rates collapsing?
Most likely sender reputation rather than content. Restricted-market senders frequently get partially trapped in Gmail Promotions or Yahoo bulk inside 6–12 months without realising — apparent opens drop because pixels do not load when messages route to those folders. The audit identifies whether the problem is reputation, content, segmentation, or list rot. Each has a different fix.
02Can you keep me on Klaviyo / Mailchimp / Postmark?
Sometimes. Klaviyo terminates accounts for cannabis, peptides, and most adult content; some operators run there for 18 months under softer descriptors before termination. Mailchimp is similar. Postmark is transactional-only and accepts most categories there. We will tell you what your current ESP will tolerate, what it will not, and what the migration plan looks like if your category sits on the wrong side of the line. Where ESPs reject the category outright, we run on dedicated infrastructure (SendGrid Pro, Postal, in-house Postfix on dedicated IPs) instead.
03How fast can we recover from a blacklist?
Spamhaus listings: 24 hours to 14 days depending on the SBL or PBL category and the underlying issue. SURBL and URIBL: 24–72 hours after the listed URL is removed. Gmail and Outlook reputation drops are not formal blacklists and recover slower — typically 4–8 weeks of clean sending against engaged segments only. Recovery cannot be rushed; sending more is what caused it.
04Can you run SMS for cannabis, peptides, or adult?
Yes — through carrier-tolerant aggregators in jurisdictions where SMS for the category is permitted. US 10DLC will not register cannabis or adult; toll-free verified accepts some categories case-by-case; international SMS routing covers what US carriers will not. We document the geographic constraint at engagement so you know which countries are reachable.
05What is the right ratio of email to SMS to push?
Category- and stage-dependent. Mature subscription operators see roughly 60% email, 25% SMS, 15% push and WhatsApp. Acquisition-heavy operators run more email; retention-heavy operators run more SMS. The right answer is not a fixed ratio — it is whichever rail has the highest contribution margin per send for your specific list, and the audit identifies that.
06Will you handle the compliance copy (TCPA, GDPR, CASL)?
Yes. Opt-in capture flow, consent records, jurisdiction-aware unsubscribe, retention defaults aligned to the strictest applicable regime. We do not provide legal advice; we provide infrastructure that is consistent with the regimes the relevant operators most often need to satisfy. Your counsel signs off on the final policy text.
07Do you build the templates and creative too?
Yes — copy, layout, image treatment, and dark-mode rendering. Photography and product shots stay with you. The full template library transfers under your account; you own everything we build.
08How is this different from a generic email agency?
Generic email agencies optimise for unrestricted ecommerce. Their playbooks (high-frequency promotional sends on shared IPs, single-domain architecture, Klaviyo defaults, AI-rewritten content) burn restricted-market senders inside 90 days because the spam-filter calibration for restricted categories is materially different. Our system is built around what survives long-term in YMYL and policy-restricted senders, not what hits one quarter of revenue before the deliverability collapse.
