Mirror deployment
Full copy of production deployed to a separate host, separate registrar, separate jurisdiction. Same database schema, synchronised data, same code version.

DNS managed at Cloudflare or NS1 (near-instant failover capable). TTLs configured for fast switch. Failover trigger documented.

Daily DB sync from primary to mirror. Daily encrypted backups to two regions. Restore tested quarterly.

01 How fast is “under 30 minutes” really?
Median on drilled accounts: 12–18 minutes from incident detection to live traffic on mirror. 30 minutes is the upper bound we commit to contractually. The fastest recovery we’ve done was 4 minutes (the operator caught the incident in real time and triggered the runbook themselves).
02 What about payments after failover?
Payment rails are slower than site rails. The site comes back in minutes; payments come back in 4–72 hours depending on the processor and the trigger. That’s why payment redundancy is a separate sub-service — different recovery timeline.
03 Do I need this if I’m on Shopify?
Shopify itself rarely goes down. The bigger question is whether Shopify will terminate your account. For categories where they will (peptides, cannabis flower, adult), Code Red on a parallel WooCommerce or self-hosted instance is essential. For categories where they won’t, the priority is lower.
